Did You Know?

- Any motor vehicle bearing special disabled veteran license plates international accessibility symbol shall be allowed free parking time in any city or town if the vehicle is under the direct control of the owner. (RSA 265:73).

- Veterans honorably discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces may be issued a special license plate. The plate will only be issued upon application, submission of proof of honorable discharge, and payment of a one-time fee of $25. (See RSA 261:87-b).


    Your rights as a veteran mandated by the VA:

       1. Same sex provider
       2. Separate, secure sleeping areas
       3. MST screening in Primary Care and follow up
       4. A MST coordinator in every VA.
       5. Right to privacy
       6. PTSD care mandated Psychotherapists to be more sensitive to women veterans.
       7. To have quality of life
       8. Referred discharge and follow up

    The NH Chapter of the Women Veterans of America is sponsoring a Benefits and Resources Fair for ALL female veterans.

     

    Are you a woman who served in the military of the United States of America, the Allied Forces of the United States, Active Duty US Forces, the US Reserve Forces and has not been dishonorably discharged or separated from such service in the Armed Forces of the United States of America?  Then you are a veteran.

     

    Come and discover all the Benefits and Resources available to you:

    ·       Receive advice and support on anything from finding a job to treatment for Military Sexual Trauma

    ·       Discuss health care & maintenance

    ·       Meet other Women Veterans

    National Women Veterans of America’s  Goals


    The WVA formed in 1990 in response to the Gulf War by four women veterans. They wanted to provide their knowledge, expertise and guidance to the women who were returning home.

    The objects and purpose of the National WVA organization shall be:

     

    • To provide information and support to Women Veterans.
    • To  establish a liaison between Women Veterans and proper governmental sources of help.
    • To focus on the health care needs of Women Veterans who use the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers.
    • To supply personal items when necessary for the comfort of hospitalized female veterans.

     

     Our Mission:

    The New Hampshire Chapter of the Women Veterans of America is dedicated to supporting women veterans in  New Hampshire through the following:

    • Establishing a central network of information.
    • Advocating on the behalf of women veterans in New Hampshire.
    • Educating women veterans and the local community through assertive outreach efforts.
    • Serving as a liaison for women veterans seeking assistance and support.

     

    We primarily serve women veterans of New Hampshire, however we welcome feedback and questions from women everywhere.

    Currently women make up approximately 15 percent of the active force, are serving in all branches of the military, and are eligible for assignment in most military occupational specialties except for direct combat roles.

    How do I know if I am a veteran?

    Are you a woman who served in the military of the United States of America , the Allied Forces of the United States , Active Duty US Forces, the US Reserve Forces and has not been dishonorably discharged or separated from such service in the Armed Forces of the United States of America ?  Then you are a veteran and eligible for membership in the Women Veterans of America.  Proof of eligibility (DD214 or the equivalent) shall be submitted with membership application.

    While there are different criteria for certain veteran's benefits from the State of NH  and the Veteran's Administration, WVA uses the broadest term possible.  If you need help understanding your eligibility for other benefits, we are here to help
